Matava – Fiji’s Premier Eco Resort

Matava - Fiji's Premier Eco Resort

Matava Eco-Adventure Resort & Spa overlooks the world famous Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef. The resort’s accommodation consists of traditional thatched Fijian bures with en-suite bathrooms and private sun decks with spectacular ocean views.

10 accommodation bures split evenly between Honeymoon and Oceanview, nestle in private gardens a few minutes walk from the main bure complex at the heart of the resort. Here lies a large comfortable guest area with fully stocked bar, dining terrace and front deck overlooking the lagoon. Also on hand, a small library and guest charging area for laptops, cameras, tablets and high speed Wi-Fi coverage.

The resort promotes engagement with local communities and guests can experience waterfall walks, guided treks, kayak trips, village visits and local cultural events.

The Bamboo Spa, The island’s first and only Spa offers a range of Pure Fiji treatments enabling guests to pamper themselves or just relax and unwind after a hard day’s activities.

Matava is a true Eco-Resort deriving its power and hot water from solar energy. An extensive organic farm supplies the restaurant daily with fresh fruit and vegetables and even honey from the garden apiary. The resort operates two gamefishing vessels. An inshore 23ft skiff and a 31ft fly-bridge gamefishing boat. Although our policy is to tag and release all billfish, anglers frequently bring home some of their catch for guests to enjoy freshly caught fish, served at dinner on the main bure terrace.

Waisalima Beach Resort & Dive Centre

Waisalima Beach Resort & Dive Centre is a beautiful, quiet and out of the way place where you can relax, unwind and enjoy some of the fantastic things Fiji has to offer: great diving and snorkelling, beautiful beaches and fantastic hospitality. Make the most of Fijian hospitality!

The resort itself is situated on 10 acres of natural beachfront rainforest, has a tidal river dividing the property and our bures are traditionally built by the local Fijians.

Dining is a casual affair with international, simple yet sumptuous meals that are carb-loaded and ensure you have enough energy for daily activities at the resort such as diving, snorkelling, sea kayaking, visiting the local waterfalls, going hiking to “The Big Tree”, a 400-year old tree just north of the property and just wandering the beaches collecting shells and enjoying a relaxing time on Fiji’s Natural Treasure, Kadavu Island.

The people of Kadavu Island are wonderful, friendly and accommodating and only too happy to take you to visit their home villages and take part of the dancing and kava ceremonies that are held continually in a celebration of life.

We’re sure you won’t be disappointed with Waisalima Beach Resort & Dive Centre.

The Astrolabe Reef Resort

Tiliva Resort

Tiliva Resort – the Great Astrolabe Reef Resort is Fijian owned. Kemu, having spent many years in Europe returned home to establish the resort in order to help his village. It is a small intimate resort offering a very personal service with a true Fijian welcome.

This remote eco resort is set in 18 acres of lush tropical gardens with its own secluded beachfront having magnificent views across the bay to the island of Ono. Its location is just minutes from the Great Astrolabe Reef and Waisomo reserve, yet it is remote, and secluded, far away from the mainstream resorts.

The resort has one beachfront honeymoon bure (bungalow) and five deluxe garden bures with ocean views. The beachfront bure is just footsteps from the beach having a 360 degree veranda one side of which overlooks the sea. It has its own comfortable deck chairs and sun loungers on the veranda.

Many of the indigenous trees within the resort have been maintained, not only for medicinal purposes but for privacy for the bures. The sites for the bures have been carefully selected bearing in mind the environment and privacy for the guests, to this end the bures are individually nestled in the trees for seclusion thereby enhancing the feeling of remoteness and more in contact with nature. Yet the bures offer all the creature comforts you would expect at home. They are fully tiled throughout with high wooden ceilings, ceiling fans, the doors and windows are fully meshed against mosquitoes. They are not in a straight row along the beachfront; each bure is standalone and has its own veranda and side decking, tucked away in the trees, but retaining the ocean view.
