Taveuni Dive Resort

A New Sustainable Resort – Now Open

Taveuni Dive Resort is the best Resort-to-Reef experience on Taveuni. Our sustainable resort is focused on providing comfort, service, and being the best gateway to the authentic Taveuni adventure.

For 12 years, Taveuni Dive has been the preferred choice for diving on the island of Taveuni.  We’ve listened to what our guests wanted in a dive resort, and built it.  The first sustainable resort on Taveuni, Taveuni Dive Resort provides guest accommodations, dining, scuba diving, and tourism activities to chartered dive groups, small groups of scuba divers, and other tourists attracted to the locale. The resort operates a restaurant & bar, as well as a small retail market for residents of Taveuni Estates and tourists alike.

Sustainable Development meets the needs of the present without compromising the future.  Our resort is sustainable because design, construction, and operations of our business meets environmental, economic, and social objectives to further our goal of sustainability.

The Rainbow Reef is a barrier reef located between the islands of Taveuni and Vanua Levu in northeast Fiji. This video is a combination of 2 different dive sites on Rainbow Reef: Fish Factory and Jerry’s Jelly. Both dives are relatively shallow at 20 meters (60 feet) maximum depth.

Fish Factory is, as its name implies, a site so overwhelmingly packed with fish, it’s claustrophobic. Jerry’s Jelly is packed with less fish (still a lot, just not 1 per square centimeter), but it makes up for this loss with a wide spectrum of dazzling soft corals, clownfish, and a Napoleon Wrasse.

Jerry’s Jelly’s current is swift. If you don’t pay attention (like I did when I videoed the reef), you will miss the ride of a lifetime as you’re propelled up and over the reef. It’s a fun ride for those who do it. Apologies again to dive buddy Julian Hayward who couldn’t fight the current while waiting for me.

dadakulaci sea snake
Fijians call these sea snakes dadakulaci. As kids we used to chase these snakes in the sea around Nukulau Island near Suva and pick them up by the tail and throw them at the girls – who shrieked with laughter! Good times! So don’t worry… dadakulaci are usually placid and avoid people where possible. They are predators which feed mainly on eels.
yellow tunnel dive site
Yellow Tunnel is a great dive site in the middle of the rainbow reef system.
